Man Threatens Family With Swords -St. Petersburg (FL) Times

WESLEY CHAPEL — The woman told authorities that her husband woke her in the middle of the night Thursday and said she needed to leave, because if she didn't, he was going to kill everyone in the house.

Lisa Guess scrambled. She woke her son, his wife and their child. She tried to get her animals outside of their house on Angus Valley Drive. It had been only a few minutes, but it was too long for her husband.

He grabbed a sword, according to a Pasco County Sheriff's Office report. Actually, the report said, he grabbed two: one for each hand.

Michael Guess, 45, hasn't been well for awhile. He had both hips replaced last year and is on various pain medications, according to the report. His wife told deputies that Michael is bipolar and hadn't been taking his medication recently, and he had been drinking lately. He got into a fight with his brother, which put him in a bad mood.
